After last season’s enforced break, the fixture schedule is still slightly congested due to its belated start, with the champions commencing their title defence against Leeds at Anfield on the opening weekend. Manchester City and Manchester United have both been granted exemptions to miss the first weekend of fixtures, due to their runs in the Champions League and Europa League, and will instead begin their campaigns at a later date against Wolves and Crystal Palace respectively.
